Fire hits home and construction supplies store in Baliwag, Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines — A home improvement and construction supplies store in Baliwag City, Bulacan, caught fire and raged for almost 10 hours Wednesday morning, the Baliwag City Fire Department said.

In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, Fire Officer I Lyka Reyes said that the blaze at Wilcon Depot in Barangay Tarcan was reported at 11:28 a.m.

The fire was raised immediately to the second alarm at 11:39 a.m. before escalating to the third alarm at 11:46 a.m.

Reyes said the fire was raised to the fourth alarm at 11:56 a.m.

It was placed under control by 2:33 p.m. and was declared “out” at 9:19 p.m.

The cause of the fire and estimated worth of damage are yet to be determined.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, Wilcon Depot said that it “fully supports” the investigation that authorities are conducting.

“As of the moment, officials have informed us that there are no casualties resulting from the incident,” Wilcon Depot added.
