OLONGAPO CITY — The level at the catchment facility of the local water concessionaire in this city has dropped in the past few days.

Subic Water said the monitoring report of its Water Supply and Treatment Operations Team showed that the water level of the Sta. Rita River intake dropped from 3 feet and 6 inches, to 2 feet and 9 inches over the last weekend.

The current level was already nearing the critical level of 2 feet and 7 inches.

Subic Water said it would implement pressure adjustments in its service to avoid further depletion of the water source and to maintain the operating level of its intake.

It noted that the villages of Sta. Rita, West Bajac-Bajac, and East Bajac-Bajac may experience lower water pressure.

Last week, Subic Water announced that the rising temperature threatens the water sources in the city.

The heat index in the city is forecast to peak at 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, which is already near the danger level. INQ
