2 killed in robbery incident in Bacoor City, Cavite

Cavite shooting

LUCENA CITY — Two persons were shot and killed after they were robbed on their way to the market early Tuesday, April 23, in Bacoor City in Cavite province.

The victims were identified as Rey Gonzales, 54, and Elvie Cariño, 46, both residents of the locality, the Region 4A police said in a report.

The police said the victims left their house in Barangay Molino 3 at 12:20 a.m. aboard a tricycle on their way to the market for their barbecue business.

An hour later, one Sam Gomez saw the bloodied dead bodies of the victims lying on the ground in another part of the village, the report said.

When he was about to come closer to check on the victims, Gomez was shot by a still unidentified male gunman, but he was not hit.

The gunman fled after the shooting. Gomez reported the incident to the authorities.

The investigators eyed robbery as a possible motive behind the killing as the bag of the victims containing P40,000 was missing.

The police are conducting further investigation and are searching for video footage from closed-circuit television cameras in the area to identify the killer.
