Dangerous heat index hits 17 areas on WEdnesday

MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen areas in the Visayas and Mindanao experienced a dangerous heat index on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Heat index refers to the measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.

Once it reaches the danger category, it may cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke during continued exposure.
