Father loses his cool trying to pacify drunk son

A 67-YEAR-OLD man stabbed and hacked dead his 37-year-old son in sitio Tabok-Lamac, barangay Yati, Liloan town in northern Cebu yesterday.

Romeo Balasabas suffered stab and hack wounds in the stomach and body.

His father, Lucio Balasabas surrendered to police after the incident.

Investigation showed that the victim Romeo arrived home drunk at 12:30 a.m. and started shouting and destroying some parts of the house.

His father Lucio tried to calm him down and appealed to the man to stop damaging the house.

Instead of calming down, Romeo challenged his father to a fistfight.

Police said Lucio lost his cool, grabbed a bolo, and attacked his son.

Lucio told police that he lost his patience since his son would always destroy things in their house when he would come home drunk./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
