MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Friday announced that it will offer “Libreng Sakay” to commuters affected by the looming transport strike starting April 15.
The LTFRB made the pronouncement after transport groups announced that it would go on a series of strikes beginning April 15 against the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) franchise consolidation deadline on April 30.

“The LTFRB will adhere to its standard operating procedure by coordinating with relevant government agencies and LGUs should a transport strike push through,” the LTFRB said in a statement.
“Rest assured, “Libreng Sakay” vehicles will once again be dispatched to assist affected commuters,” it added.
It then once again reminded that jeepney operators must consolidate before the deadline to avoid having their franchises revoked.
Furthermore, it also urged those participating in the transport strike not to prevent other jeepney drivers from operating.
