Mayor Binay lauds Makati police for hard work in fighting crime

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Makati City said on Wednesday that its police department confiscated P3.5 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, from January to March 2024.

According to Makati Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay, the Makati Police Department arrested 35 drug pushers and 132 drug users.

“The city government of Makati lauds the city police force for their hard work and dedication to duty. I exhort them to further intensify their efforts to eradicate the drug menace and strengthen collaboration with the city and other stakeholders towards establishing drug-free communities,” Binay said.

Meanwhile, the Police Department arrested 83 wanted persons, apprehended 23,941 ordinance violators, and confiscated 33 loose firearms.

“The sustained performance of the Makati Police does justice to the city’s substantial investments in strengthening their crimefighting and emergency response capabilities,” Binay added.

Makati City also implemented an anti-drug campaign program headed by the Makati Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

The program includes education campaigns, seminars, and substance rehabilitation for users, including children and persons deprived of liberty.
