MANILA, Philippines — Eleven areas across the country recorded heat index temperatures within the “dangerous” level on Sunday, April 7, with one area reaching 46 degrees Celsius, according to state meteorologists.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) explained that heat index temperatures within the “danger” level range from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa reported that Daet in Camarines Norte recorded a heat index temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, followed by Aparri, Cagayan, and Cotabato City, Maguindanao, both registering heat index levels of 44 degrees Celsius.

- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (42 degrees Celsius);
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (43 degrees Celsius);
- Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (42 degrees Celsius);
- Aborlan, Palawan (42 degrees Celsius);
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur (42 degrees Celsius);
- Roxas City, Capiz, (42 degrees Celsius);
- Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (42 degrees Celsius);

State meteorologists define heat index as “a human discomfort index that gives the apparent temperature on what humans perceive or feel as the temperature (from the surroundings) affecting the body.”
Exposure to temperatures within the danger level may lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion while continued activity while being exposed to such heat may lead to heatstroke, the state weather bureau added.
