Jealous man kills wife after telling son to leave house

A man allegedly driven by jealousy killed his wife on Saturday, shortly after he told their teenage son to leave their house at the Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.

When the 16-year-old boy returned after several hours, he found the bloodied body of his mother, Carmilita Cayetano, 46, inside the bathroom.

Her head had been bashed with a hammer, which was lying beside her.

The boy told the police that his father had asked him to leave the house Saturday noon.

He added that jealousy might have spurred his father to kill his mother as there had been rumors that the latter was having an affair with her husband’s brother, according to case investigator Police Officer 1 Francisco Mendoza of the Manila Police District homicide section.
