MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2) will offer free rides to the public at specific times on April 9 — the 82nd celebration of the Day of Valor, the train management said on Friday.
According to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), veterans and the general public can redeem their free rides from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“These free rides for all LRT 2 passengers is our way of commemorating the Day of Valor. A salute to the veterans and the modern-day heroes, especially in the transportation sector” the LRTA administrator, Hernando Cabrera, said in Filipino.
LRT 2’s first trip will leave Recto Station and Antipolo Station at 5:00 a.m., while the last trip will be at 9:00 p.m. at the Antipolo Station and 9:30 p.m. at the Recto Station.
The announcement came after the management of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) announced on Wednesday a six-day free ride service for veterans and their companions — from April 5 to 11.
Veterans only need to present their valid identification card from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
