SC announces new work hours in trial courts amid extreme heat

MANILA, Philippines — Due to the extreme heat indices the country is currently experiencing, the Supreme Court (SC) has allowed flexible work arrangements in trial courts nationwide.

In a circular signed by Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva, working hours or court operations from April 5 to May 31, 2024, shall be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to prevent health complications that may be caused by the extreme heat.

Meanwhile, Saturday in the trial courts will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Executive judges shall act on petitions for bail and other urgent matters on Saturday afternoons after 12 noon and on Sundays, official holidays, and special days, when exceptional circumstances so warrant,” read the circular.
