MANILA, Philippines — Motorists in some parts of Manila are being asked to take alternative routes as the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) is set to perform road repairs starting Thursday.

In a bulletin posted on its Facebook page, the DPWH-NCR said its North Manila District Engineering Office will have road reblocking along the intersection of V. Mapa Street northbound, corner 1st Street, Brgy. 601, Zone 59 in Sta. Mesa starting Thursday, April 4, until Friday, April 5.

“To facilitate this construction, a temporary partial road closure (affecting one lane) will be conducted. Motorists are advised of traffic slowdown in the affected areas and to use possible alternate routes,” the DPWH said.

In a separate advisory on Wednesday, the DPWH-NCR said that its South Manila District Engineering Office will also conduct reblocking along the south and northbound bridge approach of Roxas Boulevard Flyover from April 5 to 30.

The works will include “concreting, reblocking, asphalt overlay, and application of thermoplastic pavements.”

Moreover, road repairs along northbound portions of Roxas Boulevard are set to start on April 4 and will be completed after 150 calendar days.

These movements will cover areas of Pasay city, after Lourdes Street, before Gardens By the Bay Residences, and along Manila, from Remedios Street to Sands Residences.

“While the repairs of both the projects continue during the night, closed lanes will be opened and will remain passable during daytime to facilitate smooth traffic flow,” the DPWH-NCR noted.

It also said repairs will also be done one lane at a time, and motorists may use service roads and other lanes as alternate routes.
