In a report on Sunday, Albay police said they already launched a manhunt operation against the four gunmen who shot at the vehicle of 38-year-old victim Alwin Nimo along Purok 3, Barangay Mariawa.

Authorities said Nimo, his bodyguard, and two other unnamed persons onboard the vehicle were unharmed.

Reports revealed that their vehicle was traversing from Legazpi city to his home in  Daraga, Barangay Talahib when the shooting occurred.

Police records showed that Nimo was a former Sangguniang Kabataan chairman from 1996 to 2002 and barangay chairman of Barangay Anislag, Daraga from 2007 to 2018.

In February last year, Nimo became a whistleblower, exposing a local official who allegedly received P8.1 million “protection money” from financiers of the illegal numbers game jueteng for three years.
