Tricycle driver shot dead on Good Friday in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A 50-year-old tricycle driver was shot and killed on Good Friday by a still unidentified motorcycle-riding gunman in Sariaya town in Quezon province.

Quezon police said in a report on Saturday (March 30) that Michael Alcala was driving his tricycle in Barangay Canda around 12:30 p.m. when a motorcycle rider appeared and repeatedly shot him in different parts of the body using a handgun.

The assailant sped off after the shooting while victim was taken to a hospital in neighboring Tayabas City where he passed away while undergoing treatment.

The police said the victim had no criminal records on their file.

An investigation was ongoing to establish the motive behind the shooting incident.

Police also launched a manhunt operation to arrest the killer.
