Manila Water Foundation leads World Oral Health Day celebrations

Manila Water Foundation, the social development arm of Manila Water Company, led back-to-back celebrations of World Oral Health Day in Taguig City in Metro Manila and Tagum City in Davao del Norte.

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water Foundation, in partnership with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) and PHILUSA Corporation, led back-to-back celebrations of World Oral Health Day in Taguig City in Metro Manila and in Tagum City in Davao del Norte.

World Oral Health Day is an annual event celebrated on March 20 to raise awareness on the importance of oral health worldwide.

This event was established by Switzerland-based FDI World Dental Federation.

The World Oral Health Day 2024 theme “A Happy Mouth is A Happy Body”, highlights the integral link between oral health and overall well-being.

Manila Water Foundation’s celebration encourages everyone to maintain good oral hygiene by proper toothbrushing, regular visits to the dentist, and having a healthy diet.

The Metro Manila celebration was held at the Ricardo P. Cruz Sr Elementary School in Taguig City attended by more than 500 students along with their teachers and parents.

The event’s highlight was the simultaneous group toothbrushing of 500 students.

The event was witnessed and coached by health workers of the Taguig City Health Office, the DepEd Assistant Schools Division Superintendent and the Executive Vice President of the Philippine Dental Association or PDA.

Taguig City Councilor for Health Rodil “Tikboy” Marcelino represented Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.

Marcelino reminded the learners to maintain good oral health to avoid tooth aches which lead to absences from class.

He said that maintaining good oral health keeps a student from missing important class days.

The Manila Water Foundation Toothbrushing Song and Dance was launched at the event as a fun way to remember the proper steps of brushing one’s teeth.

Product partner PHILUSA Corporation handed over hygiene products such as Cleene Antibacterial Wipes and Cleene Clio toothbrushes to enable more students, teachers, and parents to “BrushUp, BrushUp!

Happy Mouths Down South

Manila Water Foundation in partnership with Tagum Water recently inaugurated multi-faucet hygiene facilities at Barangay Magdum Barangay Hall and Magdum National High School.

The facilities will be for the benefit of 15,000 individuals.

Philippine Dental Association President Dr Emmanuel Centeno led the donation of 1,000 toothbrushes and led a group toothbrushing activity to mark World Oral Health Day.

Centeno expressed his gratitude to Manila Water Foundation and partners for joining oral care specialists and dentists in encouraging the public, especially young people to pay attention to proper oral care for overall health and well-being.

Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy was present during the inauguration ceremony and acknowledged the support from Manila Water Foundation to the school and barangay through the WASH facilities.

He said that the habits of proper hand washing and proper toothbrushing are needed to stay healthy and disease-free.
