Pagasa: Thunderstorm likely in Metro Manila, nearby areas on Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — Thunderstorms are likely to occur in Metro Manila and its adjacent areas on Thursday, the state weather bureau said.

The thunderstorm advisory was issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) at 10 a.m.

“Thunderstorm is more likely to develop over Greater Metro Manila Area (Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite) within 12 hours,” Pagasa said in its advisory.

This was despite the projected “dangerous” heat index in the metropolis, which is expected to range from 42 to 43 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, moderate and heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds occurred in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Quezon, Laguna, Rizal, and Cavite.
