MANILA, Philippines—Despite the hot and humid weather prevailing over the country, state meteorologists said most of the country will experience rain on Holy Wednesday, March 27.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) noted that easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, is stirring up rains in the eastern parts of the country.

In a public weather forecast, Pagasa specialist Obet Badrina said that in Luzon, rains are particularly likely in the regions of the Cordillera and Cagayan Valley, including the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.

Pagasa’s advisory issued at 4 a.m. advised residents in the two regions and three provinces to brace for “possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.”

“Meanwhile, the remaining parts of Luzon are expected to experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms,” the weather specialist continued.

In Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are also likely to occur, Badrina said.

The Pagasa specialist noted that the chance of rain may decrease on Thursday and Friday.

No low-pressure area was seen entering or forming within the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday, Badrina said.

Moreover, no gale warning is hoisted over the country’s seaboards.

In the same weather forecast, Badrina cautioned against high temperatures across the country. Tugegarao and Zamboanga are forecast to reach 34 degrees Celsius, and Davao City will reach 35 degrees Celsius.
