Pagasa sees 40-42°C heat index in some parts of Luzon, Davao Region
MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in Luzon and Davao Region may reach a heat index of 40 to 42 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a morning forecast, the state weather service also reported that most parts of the country will have hot and humid weather for the week.

“Mainit at maalinsangan tanghali lalo na sa Dagupan kung saan maaring umabot ng 42 degrees Celsius,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.
(A Hot and humid noon will occur, especially in Dagupan, where the temperature may reach 42 degrees Celsius.)
Article continues after this advertisementEstareja added that although Metro Manila has an actual temperature of 25 to 33 degrees Celsius for the day, he revealed that the area’s heat index may hit 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.
Article continues after this advertisementMoreover, a large portion of Cagayan Valley and Casiguran, Aurora, may also reach 40 degrees Celsius.
Likewise, the Davao Region may hit 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
Pagasa said the heat index in the “danger” category ranges from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius, which may likely cause heat cramps and exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued exposure to the sun.
Heat index measures the discomfort an average person experiences due to the combined effects of temperature and air humidity.
