MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos have recovered from flu-like symptoms, the Palace announced on Monday.
In a Facebook post, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said doctors have medically cleared the Marcoses.
“The President and the First Lady have completely recovered from their flu-like symptoms and are now in excellent health. Their attending physician has confirmed they are free from all symptoms, enabling them to promptly return to their regular duties, effective immediately,” said the PCO.
“The President has been in meetings today and will resume his public duties tomorrow,” the PCO said.
The Palace announced Marcos’ illness on March 20.
The President has been unable to attend any events since then.
The first couple was fresh from their trip to Germany and the Czech Republic when Malacañang announced their symptoms.
The Palace has only said that the first couple were experiencing “flu-like symptoms”, but never stated their actual diagnosis.
Upon the advice of attending physicians, the President had to skip out on several events, including a Presidential luncheon with the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines.
Marcos also missed the Philippine Army’s 127th anniversary celebration in Tarlac.
