4 injured as fire hits community in QC

A massive fire hit a community of informal settlers in Barangay Damayang Lagi, Quezon City, on Tuesday, leaving three people injured.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze started at 10:34 a.m. and reached the fifth alarm around 30 minutes later. It was finally put out at 1:39 p.m.

The injured were Manny Abayon, 31, and Donis Mamano, 33, who suffered foot lacerations, fire superintendent Froilan Guzman who received lacerations on his right forearm, and Jun June Olalla, 19, who sustained a cut on his finger.

Only Abayon was brought to the Quezon City General Hospital while the other two were treated at the scene. Authorities said they were still trying to determine the cause of the fire as well as the extent of damage and number of affected families. —RUSSEL P. LORETO
