MANILA, Philippines — Senator Grace Poe underscored the need to “invest” in women to realize their potential and “mobilize” them into the workforce.

According to Poe, the government and society must support women to help them advance their talents and their abilities.

“There is a compelling need to mobilize more women into the workforce, move them to stable jobs and income, develop their talent and pathways for advancement,” she said.

The senator made the statement at the opening of a women-themed art fair organized by a female advocacy group on Friday, March 15.

“The return on investment [in] our society is enormous if women’s potential would be realized,” she added.

Poe also said that investing in women will also show more perspectives that only women can see.

“And this is why it is worth investing in women. Because otherwise, we would be deprived of the distinct point of view that is borne from experiences unique to women,” she added.

The month of March is dedicated as Women’s Month in the Philippines, while International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8.
