2 mild earthquakes sway Quezon town

LUCENA CITY — Two successive mild earthquakes on Thursday swayed San Francisco town in Quezon province.

A 3.8-magnitude tectonic earthquake was recorded at 5:44 a.m. with its epicenter located 21 kilometers southwest of San Francisco, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported in its bulletin. The earthquake had a depth of four kilometers.

At 6:08 a.m., a magnitude 2.8 tectonic tremor hit the town with a six-km depth.

Phivolcs said the temblors were not expected to cause damage or aftershocks.

San Francisco town lies along the coast of Tayabas Bay facing the South China Sea. It is located at the southern tip of Quezon.
