MANILA, Philippines—The younger brother of alleged Dominguez carjack group leaders recently arrested in Bulacan allegedly offered a P3-milion bribe to his arresting officers so he could flee, police said.
Senior Superintendent Fernando Mendez, provincial police chief of Bulacan, said that immediately after Ryan Dominguez, along with his three other cohorts, were arrested, they allegedly told police officials to let them go in exchange of a “huge sum of money”.
“Pero hindi natinag ang mga pulis natin at itinuloy natin ang kaso (But that did not distract our policemen and pushed through with the filing of the case),” he said.
Dominguez, James Jimenez, Roy Blanco, and Mark Lakambakal were arrested in Malolos, Bulacan on Tuesday initially for drug use and illegal possession of firearms.
However, in the course of police investigations, it was discovered that the two caliber .45 pistols seized from them matched the empty shells found at the crime scene where star witness Alfred Mendiola and two others were killed last Sunday.
Thus, murder charges, along with illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs use, are set to be filed against them next week.
