Spouses Jose Arsenio Chua Ong, 80, and Elizabeth Dolliaga Ong, 76, were both found dead inside their residence in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Cubao.
The suspect, 48-year-old Marilyn Mante Pandita, who is the household helper of the couple, underwent a buccal swab for DNA examination and comparison.
“At 8:45 PM of March 5, 2024, [a] witness saw smoke coming from the house of the victims prompting her to report the incident to Brgy. E. Rodriguez officials who sought assistance from Quezon City Fire Department,” the police report read.
The fire was declared under control at 9:40 p.m., and responding firefighters found the bloodied remains of the couple inside their bedroom.
Upon investigation, local authorities collected one pipe wrench, one dumbbell, and one kitchen knife. These items were swabbed to collect DNA samples.
“Cursory examination showed that both victims sustained multiple head injuries. Cadavers of the victims were brought to the facilities of Arlington Funeral Homes for autopsy,” the report said.
Pandita was brought to the barangay hall for documentation, where she attempted to escape, the QCPD said.
Fortunately, barangay officials were able to corner Pandita along 15th Avenue and P. Tuazon Avenue, Barangay Socorro, leading to her arrest.
Authorities recovered an ice pick, a plane ticket, cash placed in a handbag, and other personal belongings from Pandita.
She was then taken to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit for investigation and proper disposition.
Pandita will be charged with two counts of robbery with homicide and arson before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
