MANILA, Philippines — The powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) approved on Wednesday the ad interim appointments of 46 generals and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
No member of the congressional body objected against the designation of the following AFP officials:

Prior approval, the designation of the aforementioned AFP officials was debated upon by the CA committee on national defense.
Ranulfo Sevilla’s appointment to the rank of Brigadier General was initially included in the agenda, but was rescheduled to another date.
The powerful congressional body said on September 20, 2023, a sworn opposition against the appointment of Sevilla was filed by Mrs. Tessa Luz Aura Reyes-Sevilla. Sevilla filed his answer to the opposition on September 28, 2023 and the opposter filed her reply on January 24, 2024.
With this, Senator Risa Hontiveros, through a letter received by the CA Secretariat on Wednesday, requested that she be allowed to profound questions to Sevilla and to participate in the examination relating to the opposition filed on his ad interim appointment.
However, due to prior commitment, Senator Hontiveros was unable to attend CA’s Wednesday hearing.
With this, Hontiveros requested for the “suspension of consideration on the ad interim appointment of Sevilla and for the same to be taken up during the next committee hearing.
