Young Minds Academy 6 starts

THE Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) held a signing ceremony and an orientation last March 24 to signal the start of the sixth season of the Young Minds Academy (YMA).

Eighty-four scholars representing 17 teams inked contracts to signify their willingness to finish the eight-month YMA program that will include leadership and character building, social awareness, creative and critical thinking activities, community visits and immersion, research and project development, project implementation and internship and conference.

The signing ceremony was held at the Bryant George Hall of Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center (EADSC).

It was attended by RAFI president Roberto Aboitiz, deputy director for Operations Amaya Aboitiz, EADSC executive director Evelyn Nacario-Castro, and representatives from the Unionbank of the Philippines and YMA program sponsor.

The scholars of YMA 6 went through a rigorous screening process, which included an intelligence quotient and personality test, essay writing, team dynamics and a panel interview.

This season’s modules are anchored on the theme of urban development, in line with the Mega Cebu vision and framework that RAFI is pursuing in collaboration with various stakeholders.

Formal training of the scholars started last March 30 with the YMA S-Leadership seminar.

The module was conducted by Selene Yu, a businesswoman and vassal in-charge of the Potter’s Leadership Academy.

Yu has been sharing the S-Leadership way of life to various groups and organizations in the Philippines and abroad for the past 11 years.
