MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Robin Padilla apologized to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and Sen. Nancy Binay over the “vitamin C drip session” controversy he got entangled with.

Padilla and his wife earlier drew flak after actress Mariel Padilla shared a photo of her receiving her dose of “IV drip” in the Senate.

Binay, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, expressed concern about the incident.

She talked about the need to “look closely into it because it involves issues of conduct, integrity, and reputation of the Institution, and matters that concern health and safety.”

In separate letters to Zubiri and Binay, Padilla extended his “sincerest apologies” over the episode.

He emphasized that he did not intend to “intentionally ignore” the rules of the Senate.

Earlier on Monday, Padilla asked for forgiveness from Dr. Renato Sison, director of the Senate Medical and Dental Bureau, and the Senate sergeant-at-arms, Lieutenant General Roberto Ancan.
