THE STREAM Global Teleservices Ingenyouity started its title-retention bid with a 71-61 triumph over the Qualfon Knights last Monday in the 2012 Sun Cellular E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
Sylvester Millevo, who had an historic feat last year when he won the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards, keyed Stream’s win with 21 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Benjie Mancao backed Millevo with 10 points as Stream put the game away with a 15-7 run in the third period—a run that gave them a sizable 53-41 lead going into the final period.
Remario Edano topped Qualfon with 16 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Arnulfo Gelbolingo added 11.
In the other game, the Aegis Vipers opened their campaign with a blowout 84-42 dumping of the JP Morgan Chase and Co. Bankers, 84-42.
Aegis relied on a balanced offense to post the season’s most lopsided victory by far as nine Vipers scored at least six points./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
