MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese fugitive was intercepted by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).
In a statement on Monday, the BI said Chinese authorities are hunting the foreigner for a string of criminal offenses.
BI Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU) identified the suspect as 42-year-old Liu Jiangtao from Vanuatu.
He was caught at Naia Terminal 3 before he could board a flight to Singapore on February 21.
His presence at Naia prompted a hit in the BI’s list of aliens with outstanding watchlist orders.

Upon discovering his alleged criminal activities, Liu was prevented from leaving and was brought to BI detention facility in Taguig City, BCIU overall deputy chief Joseph Cueto said in the same statement.
Records showed Liu is one of 11 Chinese who are wanted for various felonies — fraud, infringement of credit card management, capital embezzlement, money laundering, and counterfeiting a registered trademark.
