Taiwanese fugitive arrested in Cebu — BI
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday that a Taiwanese fugitive who was a former officer in the Taiwanese army was arrested by authorities.
According to the BI, Li Chen Yu, 36, was arrested in Cebu City in a joint operation of the BI and the police criminal investigation and detection group.

In December 2021, the BI board of commissioners issued a summary deportation order against Li.
“Aside from issuing a deportation order, the board also ordered his inclusion in our blacklist and banned him from re-entering the country for being an undesirable alien,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.
The Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Manila said that Li has pending charges in Taiwan for violations of anti-corruption laws while he was an officer in the Taiwanese army.
Article continues after this advertisementBesides his present charges, the BI added that Li is an overstaying alien, and his passport was revoked by the Taiwanese government.
