MLB coach holds coaches seminar in Cebu

IN AN EFFORT to revive the sport of baseball in Cebu, a coaches seminar conducted by a coach from the Major League Baseball in the United States was held recently at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

This was held over the weekend as part of Cebu City Sports Commission’s Coaching and Officiating Seminar.

This was made possible in coordination with the Department of Education, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, the Cebu City Government and Fastball Sportsventure of Jesse Bernad.

Conducting the seminar was MLB’s Dave Panese along with national baseball team coaches Wilfredo Hidalgo Jr. and Catalino Leron.

Classroom lectures were done to discuss the philosophy of baseball and the basics of throwing, catching, pitching and hitting. Actual drills were also given to fully understand the theories. A total of 40 participants were present including public school teachers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
