The House of Representatives has required Quiboloy to appear on March 12 before its committee on legislative franchises to investigate alleged violations of the KJC-owned Sonshine Media Network Inc.

Quiboloy gave a 36-minute voice message on YouTube on Wednesday, calling these hearings an agenda to “demonize me and destroy my reputation.”

Quiboloy has claimed a plot to have him killed. That’s why he went into hiding despite a subpoena having been issued to him to appear before a Senate investigation.

In the audio statement, Quiboloy accused the United States government of orchestrating a plan to assassinate him. He said the supposed scheme would involve hit men storming his compound to kidnap and eventually murder him.

However, the Philippine National Police said Thursday it had not intercepted any information indicating threats to Quiboloy’s life.

In 2022, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation put out “Wanted” posters of Quiboloy “for his alleged participation in a labor trafficking scheme that brought church members to the United States via fraudulently obtained visas and forced the members to solicit donations for a bogus charity, donations that were used instead to finance church operations and the lavish lifestyles of its leaders.”

According to the FBI poster, Quiboloy had been facing various charges in the United States, such as conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion, and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.
