MANILA, Philippines — Patients suffering from heart and vascular diseases in the Davao Region will now be able to get diagnostic services and treatment without traveling far distances with the inauguration of the new state-of-the-art hybrid Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or CathLab of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.

The hybrid CathLab, the first of its kind in the country, is capable of providing patients with CT Scan, cardio diagnosis and angiogram, all in one place.

As Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Senator Sonny Angara ensured that the SPMC was provided with P150 million in its 2023 budget under the General Appropriations Act for its hybrid CathLab facility.

With the new hybrid CathLab, patients from Davao and other parts of Mindanao would no longer have to travel to Metro Manila or Cebu in order to receive lifesaving treatment for their heart disease.

Patients would only have to stay within the hybrid CathLab to get all the diagnostic services they require, thus saving them the trouble, stress and toll on their bodies from transfers to different buildings where the different machines are located.

It would also save them a lot of time and money for travels to Metro Manila or Cebu to seek treatment.
