Gov't intel efforts more focused on external threats -- Marcos

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said that the government’s intelligence efforts are now more geared towards external threats.

“I think more than anything, they are really directed towards external threats because those are more serious as far as we are concerned,” Marcos said in an ambush interview in Manila. 

“Marami nang ibang bagong kailangan bantayan. So, yes, we have been doing a good job, and I think that, but we should not be talking about intelligence services because it’s supposed to be clandestine,” said Marcos.

Marcos said that the intelligence services are much better than they were before. 

In January, Marcos ordered the reorganization of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency to adapt to changing security threats. 

“Getting things done”

Marcos was also asked about his leadership skills and cited the general accomplishments of his administration.

“Well, we get things done. We get more things done than most other people. So, I think that’s the most important thing,” said Marcos.
