Edsa bus lane violators mostly private vehicle owners – DOTr

MANILA, Philippines — Most drivers illegally using the Edsa bus lane are private car owners, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Command and Control Operation Center chief Charlie del Rosario said on Monday.

“Karamihan na nahuhuli natin diyan ay iyong mga pribadong sasakyan na gumagamit po ng Edsa Bus Carousel. Alam naman natin na bawal ho talaga dapat ang mga pribadong sasakyan diyan,” said del Rosario on the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon Public Briefing.

(Most of those we apprehend are private vehicle owners who use the Edsa Bus Carousel. Weall know that private vehicles are not allowed there.)

Del Rosario, however, did not specify the number of apprehended private vehicle drivers.

Del Rosario reiterated that only selected vehicles are allowed on the Edsa bus lane –  government service vehicles like ambulances, or the vehicles of key government officials like the President, Vice President, House Speaker, Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Del Rosario also said that the number of drivers apprehended for using the Edsa bus lane is decreasing.
