The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has accredited the Mandaue City Hospital as a “center of quality.”

Philhealth issued the hospital a certificate of accreditation after it complied with its standards.

The accreditation was signed by PhilHealth president and chief operating officer Dr. Rey Aquino last May 23.

Earlier on Jan. 12, PhilHealth also issued a certificate declaring the hospital a “center of safety.”

The two-year accreditations as “center of quality” and “center of safety” proves that the health care institution is “safe, efficient and haven of quality output and services beneficial to Philhealth members and their dependents,” the PhilHealth statement said.

“The accreditations bring honor to the city and inspire us more to serve the community with confidence,” said Dr. Oscar Quirante, chief of the hospital.

The hospital, which has a 50-bed capacity, caters not only Mandauehanons but also patients from the neighboring Lapu-Lapu City, Consolacion and Liloan.

PhilHealth vice president for Central Visayas William Chavez awarded the city government last year with a plaque of appreciation for achieving a “universal coverage” for enrolling 25,000 indigent families or more than 100 percent coverage of targeted population.
