PCG, BFAR ships deployed to Scarborough to protect fishers vs China
The government has deployed ships to the Scarborough Shoal due to recent harassment cases of China Coast Guard (CCG) personnel against Filipino fishers.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) conducted a rotational deployment in the atoll, which is also known as Bajo de Masinloc, a disputed territory in the West Philippine Sea.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said he will sign the subpoena for religious leader and alleged sex offender Apollo Quiboloy when Zubiri returns from a trip to the Visayas.
“I have been told by my staff that the issuance of the subpoena for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been prepared and is now ready for my signature,” Zubiri said in a statement.
Hontiveros to Pirma: Disclose donors or face criminal raps
Criminal charges may be filed against leaders of People’s Initiative for Modernization and Reform Action (Pirma) if they continue to hide the identities of donors who helped bankroll the controversial “EDSA-pwera” advertisement, said Senator Risa Hontiveros on Friday (Feb 16).
In a statement, Hontiveros said Pirma’s continued refusal to disclose the names of its donors falls under the crime of ‘disobedience to summons issued by Congress, its committees or subcommittees’ under Article 150 of the Revised Penal Code.
