The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (Ecop) issued the warning on Thursday as it objected to a Senate bill pushing for a P100 across-the-board hike in the daily minimum pay of private sector employees.

According to DepEd deputy spokesperson Asec. Francis Bringas, they are awaiting a World Bank study showing the proper pay raise for teachers. He explained that DepEd needs such information to apply a salary hike without disrupting the agency’s staffing pattern.

Transport agencies tackle rules for electric vehicles

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday started talks on regulations for electric motor vehicles amid their growing numbers on public roads.

DOH: Flu-like illnesses kill 9 from Jan – Feb 3

The Department of Health (DOH) said Friday that nine people have died due to influenza-like illnesses (ILI) since the beginning of 2024.

It also said that a total of 16,155 ILI cases were recorded from January 1 to February 3.
