MANILA, Philippines — On Valentine’s Day, Sen. Imee Marcos said it breaks her heart that there’s a “huge conspiracy” to divide UniTeam.
UniTeam is an alliance formed to boost the 2022 electoral candidacies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte.
“It’s really heartbreaking that there is a huge conspiracy to tear apart the UniTeam. It would have been ideal if we [could] maintain it because then we have a solid noth, a solid south, an overwhelming vote, a mandate that you cannot dispute,” said the senator in a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum on Wednesday.

According to her, it would be better to end “toxic politics” and get on with the “real work for development, progress, and real concerns for the welfare of the masses.”
While she did not name any names, she did leave a direct message to those fueling and indulging these conspiracies: “Magsitabi muna kayo [Step aside].”
“It’s very very unfortunate that many people are adding fuel to the fire, many who are inciting. We should focus on the most important things. Let’s fix our work first. There are so many problems — from water, fuel, and food — name it. We are problematic,” she said in Filipino.
‘Luckiest family in the world’
Marcos admitted that she’s very invested in the success of the Marcos administration, adding that she feels like it’s her duty to defend and protect the name and legacy of her father — the late dictator former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
“We keep extolling the fact and giving praise and gratitude for being the luckiest family in the world to have been given a second chance. So we simply cannot blow it, it’s a divine mandate,” she said.
