Authorities nab man during P3-M shabu drug sting in Sulu

A buy-bust operation in Sulu resulted in the arrest of a man who yielded over P3.4 million worth of "shabu" or crystal meth, police said on Tuesday.  

MANILA, Philippines — A buy-bust operation in Sulu resulted in the arrest of a man who yielded over P3.4 million worth of “shabu” or crystal meth, police said on Tuesday.

In a report, the Sulu police said that its joint operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA RO BARMM) led to the arrest of suspect Alex Hussin in Barangay Poblacion, Maimbung last February 4.

According to the PDEA RO BARMM, Hussin’s cohort, Aldun Hussin, was killed after trying to “evade arrest and forcefully snatch a service firearm” of an officer.

Both suspects were initially under surveillance after they were discovered buying and selling illegal substances in the Municipalities of Pata and Maimbung in Sulu.

The operatives declared they were able to seize 13 sachets of shabu and confiscate cash, cell phones, and a wallet from the suspects.
