LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines — Two motorcycle riders died and another one was injured on Monday, Feb. 5, in separate collisions in Laguna province.
The Calabarzon Police Regional Office reported that the motorcyclist identified as Noli Tabilog occupied the opposite lane and collided around 12 p.m. with an oncoming dump truck driven by Jowie Gabay at the national road in Barangay Santa Rosa in Alaminos town.
Due to the impact of the collision, the rider suffered grave injuries and died on the spot.
In San Pablo City, motorcyclist Erwin Batralo with back-rider, Maria Kristal Calabia were negotiating the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Ignacio around 8:30 p.m., when their vehicle crashed into a trailer truck driven by Jonathan Javier when it suddenly crossed the road, the police said.

The riders suffered serious injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital, but Batralo died on the way.
Calabia, who suffered a head injury and fractured right leg, was later transferred to another hospital in Batangas.
The police in both incidents are conducting further investigations while the truck drivers remain in their custody.
The report did not state whether the three riders in both accidents were wearing crash helmets, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
