MANILA, Philippines — Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong met with former senators Tito Sotto, Ping Lacson and Bam Aquino to discuss ongoing proposals to amend the 1987 Constitution.

In a social media update from Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG), where Magalong serves as the convener, the mayor was pictured alongside the former senators.

M4GG, said that the four politicians who attended the meeting all agreed that such proposals should be done correctly.

“Malinaw sa kanilang lahat na kailangang gawin sa tamang pamamaraan at dapat may boses ang sambayanang Pilipino sa usapin sa pag-amyenda sa Saligang Batas,” M4GG said in its caption on Monday.

(It is clear to all of them that it should be done the right way, and the Filipino people should have a voice in amending the Constitution.)

M4GG is an organization made up of 159 local chief executives committed to fighting corruption and promoting innovative, transparent, and accountable governance.

Previously, M4GG declared that the spat arising from efforts to amend the 1987 Constitution only worsened people’s burdens.

It also urged fellow public servants to instead focus their energy on addressing inflation, low income, and corruption in government.
