Amihan, easterlies to bring overcast skies in parts of PH

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, and easterlies will bring overcast skies and weak rain showers in parts of the country on Sunday, according to the state weather bureau.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the two weather systems will mainly affect residents in Northern Luzon and parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

“Patuloy pa rin umiiral ang northeast monsoon or amihan dito sa bahagi ng Northern Luzon kung saan magdadala pa rin ito ng maulap na kalangitan at mahihinang pagulan at pagambon lalo na sa may silangang bahagi ng Northern Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in a morning forecast.

“Samantalang ang easterlies ang patuloy na umiiral sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao kung saan ngayong araw ay malaking bahagi ng bansa ang makakaranas ng mga isolated na pag-ulan dulot ng easterlies at mga localized thunderstorms,” she added.

(While easterlies are expected to be experienced in the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao. This means that isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms are also expected in large portions of the country.)

Other than these two, Castañeda said Pagasa did not monitor any weather disturbances that may affect the country in the next 24 hours.

Moreover, she said that the weather for the next three days will be generally fair, with chances of slight rain showers.

  • Metro Manila: 20 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 14 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 20 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 20 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 26 to 23 degrees Celsius
