Cellboy CEO Alvin Chu Teng is not only a tech executive on a mission to bring modern technology to all Filipinos. He’s also a dad who has a soft heart for the underprivileged, especially if it involves kids.
Chu is very active in his philanthropy work, which was a great influence from his father. At an early age, he was exposed to vulnerable communities, outreach programs, and activities.
Chu recently donated a million-peso firetruck to the Binondo volunteer station and did numerous charity works for children in need.
Just a few days ago, Chu, along with his wife, Anna Co Teng, and Maricel Tulfo Tungol visited the children of Concordia Children’s Services Inc.
This organization hasn’t received any support for a long time, and it was to their utmost happiness when they received a surprise visit.
“Nagbigay kami ng Jollibee party sa mga bata at ng mga toys. Kahit konti yung mga bata, tinuloy parin namin kasi ang pinaka-important dito is ‘yung mga volunteer na nagbibigay ng service nila and tumatayong parents ng mga bata,” said Chu.
He also shared that they played games with the kids like hide-and-seek and hep hep hooray, which helped uplift their morale and, even just for a day, put a smile on the children’s faces and bring hope into their lives.
Despite managing 1,000 employees with hundreds of branches nationwide, Chu managed to take time from his busy schedule to do work that matters: serving the most vulnerable sectors of society and creating a positive change in the lives of people who need him the most.
Concordia Children’s Services (CCS) is a child welfare agency that provides both residential and community-based programs. It takes in orphans and assists children who are from very poor families and provide them with education, spiritual hope, and nourishment.
CCS was founded in 1983, in partnership with another child-caring agency for abandoned, neglected, and orphaned children. In 1988, its name was changed to Concordia to reflect our Lutheran heritage. In 1989, it expanded to serve the street and urban poor children in Pasig City.
