Philanthropist Alvin Teng gives opening remarks at Rotary Club Bagumbayan-Manila

Alvin Chu Teng — the young entrepreneur behind Cellboy, one of the country’s leading smartphones and gadgets retail stores — was selected to give the opening remarks at the 44th Induction Ceremonies of the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila on the evening of Thursday, August 24, at Century Hotel in Pasay City.

“My ultimate professional objective is to focus on digitalizing Filipinos’ lives,” said Teng. “To help Filipinos keep up with the fast-paced advancement of the technologies, and to contribute to the development of a better future. That, I suppose, is my overarching message to everyone here tonight: that each of us specify our individual goals, and not just announce them to the world, but act on them with tenacity, love, and consistency.”

Cellboy, along with the other gadget brands of Teng, currently has over 200 branches nationwide and employs almost 1,000 workers and staff — 99 percent of which are Filipino.

The Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila is approximately 100 years old and has consistently been involved in multiple high-profile philanthropic missions throughout the Philippines. Teng is currently the leading candidate for Bagumbayan’s next Rotary Club President in 2024.
