DSWD to delist 4Ps recipients who pawn cash aid cards

MANILA, Philippines — Beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who engage with loan sharks or pawn their cash cards may be removed from the aid plan, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warned.

“Nag-iispot check kami during the family development sessions na dapat dala nila (4Ps beneficiaries) ang ATM [cards] dahil bawal [‘yung pagsanla ng card]. They can be delisted from the program,” said DSWD Director and 4Ps program manager Gemma Gabuya during a media forum on February 1.

Gabuya also encouraged the beneficiaries to become “model citizens” by following the rules of the aid program.

“You have to take care of the resources of the government. You should be the one who models the face of the program,” she said.
