LTO says over 270,00 motor vehicles renewed registrations in January
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) reported Friday that more than 270,000 motor vehicles renewed their expired registrations last month.
In a statement, the LTO enumerated that 198,283 motorcycles, 20,427 cars, 34,436 utility vehicles, 12,123 sports utility vehicles, 5,617 taxis, 1,098 tricycles, and 168 buses renewed their registrations from January 1-31.
Of the total, the highest number of vehicle registration renewals was logged in the National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila, with 48,490.

Following NCR was Calabarzon with 39,680; Central Visayas with 30,021; and Central Luzon with 25,456.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to LTO, its chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, has been visiting regional offices to promote the “No Registration, No Travel” policy further.

Mendoza also asked regional offices about the status of their road safety initiatives during the visits.
“We want to check on the programs, projects and good practices of each regional offices that can be replicated and utilized in other parts of the country. Iisa lang naman ang layunin namin dito at yun ay maayos, mabilis at may malasakit na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” said Mendoza, as quoted in the statement of the LTO.
