Aquino swears in newly promoted generals

MANILA, Philippines—Armed Forces Chief of Staff Jessie Dellosa led 28 newly promoted generals in taking their oaths before President Benigno Aquino on Tuesday morning.

Dellosa recently received his fourth star and is now a full general.

“Today I did not only raise my hand and read the words written in the oath but together with the 28 other AFP Officials, I made a pledge to more than 90 million Filipinos to continue our commitment of maintaining a peaceful and stable nation as dedicated officers and professional soldiers,” Dellosa said in a statement.

Among those who also took their oath was Brigadier General Ramon Mateo Dizon, chief of the Presidential Security Group and who received his first star; Lieutenant General Irineo Espino, AFP’s Inspector General; Lieutenant General Lauro Catalino Dela Cruz, Philippine Air Force (PAF) Commanding General; and Lieutenant General Jorge Segovia, commander, Eastern Mindanao Command.

Other officials who took their oath were Brigadier General Oscar  Lopez, BGen Noel Miano, Brigadier General Felicito Virgilio Trinidad Jr., Brigadier General Aurelio Baladad, Brigadier General Rolando Jungco, Brigadier General Carlos Quita, Brigadier General Julius Guillermo, Brigadier General Salvador Melchor Mison Jr., Brigadier General Paulita Cruz, Brigadier General Arnulfo Marcos, Brigadier General Virgilio Hernandez, Brigadier General Eamon Cabal, Brigadier General Ramon Mateo Dizon, Brigadier General Danilo Servando, Commodore Manuel Natalio Abinuman, Brigadier General Crisologo Nayve, Brigadier General Hernando  Iriberri, and Brigadier General Remigio Valdez.

Aquino also presided over the oath-taking of the 27 members of the caretaker legislative assembly of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
