Pagasa: Flooding in parts of Mindanao due to trough of LPA

MANILA, Philippines — Flooding may occur in some parts of Mindanao due to rains brought by the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

In its advisory on Tuesday, 6:00 pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of flooding in the following areas:

Region 10 (Northern Mindanao)

Region 13 (Caraga)

  • Surigao Del Norte – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Surigao and Magallanes
  • Agusan Del Norte – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Lake-Mainit-Tubay, Asiga, Agusan, Linugos and Cabadbaran
  • Surigao Del Sur – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Cantilan, Carac-An, Tandag, Tago, Hubo-Oteiza, Hinatuan, and Bislig
  • Agusan Del Sur – Rivers and its tributaries particularly Ojot, Wawa, Libang, Maosam, Kasilan, Gibong, Adgaoan, Simulao, Kayonan and Andanan
  • Dinagat Islands – Rivers and its tributaries, particularly Malinao Inlet and Gaas Lulet.

Pagasa also told residents in the areas mentioned above to take necessary precautions.

“People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned river systems and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned still advised to take necessary precautionary measures,” it said.
