MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte will be the country’s caretaker while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is in Vietnam for an official visit.
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil confirmed the Vice President’s designation as caretaker amid her family’s verbal tirade against Marcos.

On Sunday, the Vice President’s father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, accused Marcos of being on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA) watchlist for illegal drugs.
“Nung ako ay mayor pinakitaan ako ng evidence ng PDEA doon sa listahan nandoon yung pangalan mo ayaw ko sabihin yan kasi magkaibigan tayo, kungdi magkaibigan, magkakilala. Pumapasok kayo ng alanganin Mr. President baka susunod ka sa dinaan ng tatay mo, dyan ako takot ayaw ko mangyari sayo yan,” Duterte said in a Davao rally against charter-change.

Her brother, Davao Mayor Sebastian Duterte, also told Marcos to resign if he did not love his country.
“Mr. President, if you don’t have love if you don’t have aspirations for your nation, resign,” Sebastian Duterte said
